The Town of Virgin Is located along the Virgin River 20 miles west of Zion National Park on Highway 9. It is the first small town settled in 1857 going into Zion Canyon. In 2012, there were about 606 people living there. Farmers rise hay and graze cattle along the river. Some residents work at Zion National Park and some people have second homes. It is difficult for large housing developments because there are no sewer facilities so new lot subdivisions have to be acre lots. There are three housing subdivisions that have lots for sale. The prices of homes and lots are lower than they are in Springdale and Rockville. Mountain bike trails are accessible and Virgin is becoming a popular place for mountain bikers. If you want more elbow room and views of scenic landscape Virgin is a place to consider.
If you are interested in a summer mountain cabin the Kolob area of Virgin would be a place to consider, but it has no winter access.
